Understanding the microstructural advantages and efficiency factors of modern PTAW systems
Unlike traditional arc welding, our PTAW systems compress the electric arc through a copper nozzle, concentrating energy. This limits dilution of the substrate material to under 5%, ensuring the protective alloy chemistry (such as Tungsten Carbide or Stellite) remains pure and highly wear-resistant at the first layer.
By employing specialized volumetric, gas-assisted powder feeders, alloy powder is introduced into the plasma gas stream with high accuracy. This precise control results in minimal material waste, uniform deposit width, and highly reproducible metallurgical coatings.
Because the heat-affected zone (HAZ) is tightly localized, rapid cooling forms extremely fine dendritic microstructures. This optimizes wear, abrasion, erosion, and high-temperature oxidation resistance, especially critical for industrial valves and heavy hydraulic rods.
